VanEck Buys 1,641 BTC to Seed its Spot Bitcoin ETF

Global asset management firm VanEck has acquired approximately 1,641 bitcoins as part of the seed investment for its Bitcoin spot Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF). According to the S-1 amendment filed on January 8, this acquisition is part of a $75 million investment in VanEck’s Bitcoin spot ETF. VanEck acquired a total of 1,640.92489329 BTC through the sale of seed creation baskets.

Similarly, BlackRock and Invesco Galaxy have each acquired 227.90250 and 110 bitcoins, respectively, for their Bitcoin spot ETFs through seed creation basket sales.

BlackRock anticipates its Bitcoin spot ETF will be approved on January 10, while Bloomberg’s senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas has projected that all Bitcoin spot ETFs could launch on January 11.
