Cboe BZX Requests SEC Acceleration for Spot Bitcoin ETFs

Cboe BZX Exchange has requested an acceleration in the registration of a “spotBitcoin ETF” awaiting approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The request includes Bitcoin spot ETFs from VanEck, Fidelity, Franklin, ARK 21Shares, and Invesco Galaxy. Cboe has sent a letter stating, “In order to facilitate timely listing, the Exchange requests acceleration of registration of these securities under Rule 12d1-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended.”

Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas stated on January 11th that this appears to be an “acceleration request” to launch simultaneously with other Bitcoin spot ETFs. Eric Balchunas mentioned that he was waiting for the request until 4 PM (local time) but noted that early submissions are not uncommon.
